Based in Montana

A Clear Point of View

Craftsmanship and function belong together. Hunting across North America, South America, Europe, and Africa has shaped that conviction. It is the foundation of my interest in fine sporting arms: respect for the maker’s work, an understanding formed in the field, and a commitment to describing history without embellishment.

The Business

Mackey Safari & Fine Arms

I started Mackey Safari & Fine Arms to bring together sporting arms that are expertly made, visually compelling, and meant to be carried into the field.

For Every Piece

Selection Standards

I look at each piece as a whole: how it was made, its condition, and its history. An accurate account includes the signs of use, any alterations, and the limits of what is known.

When history is documented, I share it. When it is uncertain, I say so.

An Additional Designation

Certified Safari Ready

For select pieces, Certified Safari Ready describes my assessment of condition, function and field readiness at the time a piece was evaluated.

It is not a guarantee of future performance.

The Field

A Wider Perspective

The rifle is one part of the hunt; the country and its wildlife deserve attention in their own right.

Explore photographs from my time in the field, alongside scenes of the wildlife, landscapes and details that give these journeys their character.
